FMP Foundation Stage

29. 06.2010 FMP Foundation Stage will be all about the rhythms that created the current sounds of reggae and dancehall. The Foundation is crucial; without foundation you can not build a house. And if someone asks: What is the foundation of reggae? You would reply- ska, rocksteady, early reggae and roots reggae. Some might consider an original rub-a-dub style from early eighties a foundation, too. Therefore we include it on the program of the whole stage. Among defenders of foundation reggae music on Real Beat Music Festival 2010 will be: the intrepid Forward March Posse (they will prepare special sets for each day),legendary Royal Hi-Fi, unrivalled Peeni Walli, Lud Dub coming from far from San Francisco, energetic JBC Emergency Station, as well as the promising Jahovia Sound and others. Lets talk about some special events. The living Legend of Legends Toots Hibbert (original member of The Maytals since 1961) will perform on Saturday. Two sounds focusing on rocksteady and early reggae will tell us more about that fruitful period shortly before his performance. We are talking about none other than Fat & Dread Stereo (plus a special guest! ) and stalwart Rudeboy Rhytm. And that´s not all. We can´t bullshit ourselves and think, that czech reggae is getting bigger, that it´s full of people, who are real fans of genre. We, organisors of FMP Foundation Stage, see part of the reason as poor foreknowledge, confusion and the wrong way of approaching reggae music by the audience. The least we can do is to pass the knowledge. That´s why a few devoted selectors got together and prepared for you a brief multimedial presentation on the theme ´Sound System Culture – Core of Reggae Music´. During an hour and half of an amazing program we will guide you through subsequent periods of development of jamaican (and worldwide) sound systems; we will gladly explain, why the sound system is so important to reggae music; we will showcase the milestones, important personalities and names you should know about. If there is a constructive discussion after the program, we will declare half victory! Looking Forward to see you!

At the festival will be a competition for the best food

27. 06.2010 As same as we are taking care that at the festival will be everything recycled (we will use bio plastic made of corn), we are also taking care of the quality of the food. To motivate the chefs to do their best, we decided to organize a competition, where you can vote for the best food. At every tent will be vote papers, which you can fill out and put into a box at the information tent. On Saturday evening we will count the voices and publish the winner. The winner will win a great deal for next year and big promotion for this year. You can just vote for one time. In case we find your name twice, we will just count one of the papers. Just to motivate you too to vote: 10 voters are winning food at the winners tent!

At Foundation stage will perform Lub Dub from San Francisco

27. 06.2010 At RealBeat festival are not just many many bands ready to perform, but also a lot of selectors, many of them from abroad. One of them will be DJ Lub Dub from San Francisco, who is playing reggae, dancehall and dubstep already for over then 15 years. In all this years he performed already with or before Mad Professor, Mykal Rose, Junior Reid, Queen Ifrica and Mighty Diamonds. In Fresco he has is own Radio show Net Amp Radio and is touring through the whole country. Also in Europe he is very known, in Berlin he was the headliner of “Karneval der Kulturen”. Next to his sound system Cosmic VibeSound he has his own label Bass Response Recordings. He will spin his records at the RealBeat festival on Friday at the Foundation stage, where you will hear his exclusive dub plates, remixes and old hits from Jamaica, which you will never hear somewhere else! RealBeat mix tape vol.2: Mihaal – “Mungo’s Hi-Fi selection”

23. 06.2010 We promised you few more RealBeat mix tapes and here we are! Mungo´s Hi-Fi will present their sound nearly non stop from Thursday till the end of the festival. The mix tape is made of Mungo’s Hi-Fi productions, mixed by selector Mihaal from the Peeni Walli Sound. Homebwoys Rasta will represent Czech Republic at EU Reggae Contest and will perform at the festival

23. 06.2010 Last Tuesday was in the Prague Cross club the pre-final and therefore the decision, which band will perform at the EU Reggae Contest for Czech Republic-Slovakia. A commission of 5 people decided, which performances was the best and as a big surprise won the band Homebwoy Rasta from Olomouc. In the final was also Chaotic and Pup Animals. The wining band will perform on Saturday at the RealBeat festival and will also go to Spain, to perform at the European final at Rototom Sunsplash. We are wishing good luck and crossing our thumbs for Homebwoys Rasta! If you are interested, to try your luck next year, have a look at www.reggaecontest.eu Everybody can try it!

The RealBeat festival will support Ethiopia

17. 06.2010 Our festival is this year partner of the organization LIGHT FOR THE WORLD, which is dedicated to the prevention and healing of ablepsia (blindness) in the third world countries and the systematic help of people with special needs. Together we organized the happening THOUSAND LIGHTS FOR ETHIOPIA, which will be on Saturday shortly before midnight, very short before the concert of Toots & The Maytals. Every one in the audience gets a candle, which we will light up together. We want to send symbolic light to the blind children in Ethiopia and to all the others around the world. Every 5 seconds somebody goes blind in the third world, every minute one child. We can help them. At the festival will be an info tent, where you can get information about the humanitarian organization, you can send a helping message or you can try by your own how it is to be blind. This project is part of the serial MUSIK AGAINS BLINDNESS 2010. Their goal it is, to collect as much financial supporting as possible, to support blind people in the poorest areas in the world. The festival shows the green flag: 100% recycle

17. 06.2010 We believe that we are not alone with the idea to save the nature and our planet. After the successful recycling of bio-plastic made from corn and the separating of the trash at the Reggae Meeting last month (thanks to Bioplaneta.cz and Konopa), where we could recycle 90% of all the used dishes, we decided to do the same at RealBeat! Every one of us can make this action successful. How? You just need to separate the dishes and cups, where they are belonging. Means: plastic to the yellow bag, glass to green, paper to the blue and the rest to the black bag. All the bio-plastic-dishes (knifes, forks, spoons, cups, plates,...) bring back to special places, where you get 2 crones back and the dishes are where they are belonging and can get recycled. At the festival area will be 2 places, where you get fresh water. Its necessary to not wasted water unnecessarily. You don’t know how to get home? You have a free place in your car? Connect to other people and go together! You can find the offers at the pin wall of this page. For the way back you can connect yourself with the others at a special info tent. Or maybe you want to come to the festival with the bicycle? At the festival will be a special save place, where you can leave your bike. Football tournament RealBeat Soccer Championship!

17. 06.2010 People don’t need to be necessary hooligans to like soccer. Right now the whole world is looking and celebrating with South Africa the championship. In the Czech Republic it is a popular sport, too, even we are this year not part of the world-championship  But instead we are organizing our own tournament at the RealBeat festival. It will be Friday and Saturday afternoon. If you would like to be part of it, please send a an mail to oprah@realbeat.net with the name of your team (4 people + 1 goalkeeper), and your contacts. Don’t forget to bring your tricots or something in the same colure, at least. You will get immediately an email back with the confirmation about your application and other information like rules…
